Meticulously painted from digital photographs, each brushstroke is rendered through a near-pixel-level study of the subject. Working at such close range, the whole image is revealed only at the end of a session. Harmony is not conceived globally; instead, it emerges through a faithful translation of additive light on screen into the subtractive light of paint.

Emily lives and works in Kent. She studied painting at Camberwell College of Arts and is now reading Global Politics at Canterbury, another of her passions. Her close, meticulous, almost pixel-led studies of the human body reveal the concealed yet instinctively understood fragility of human experience. She is interested in the archaeology of the body and the histories it carries.
